Period: Oct. 28, 2026 (Wed) – Nov. 8, 2026 (Sun)
Participation: 21 companies · 1,811 stores
Applicable: Grades 1+ to 2 Sirloin, Brisket, Bulgogi, and Stew Meat / Varies by vendor

Ahead of ‘Korean Beef Day’ on November 1, discount events for Korean beef are being held at online and offline stores nationwide. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced on October 27 that it will hold the ‘So-prize Korea Hanwoo Sale’ for 12 days from October 28 to November 8.

This event involves 1,811 stores from 21 companies, including hypermarkets, supermarkets, Nonghyup Hanaro Marts, major online malls, and butcher shops. It was organized to commemorate Hanwoo Day, promote the excellence of Hanwoo beef, and ease the burden on consumers' shopping baskets.

The discount applies to sirloin, brisket, and meat for bulgogi and stew ranging from Grade 1+ to Grade 2. Based on Grade 1, the selling price per 100g is set at 8,430 won for sirloin, 4,430 won for brisket, and 3,360 won or less for meat for bulgogi and stew. Compared to consumer prices in mid-October, this is 30.8% lower for sirloin, 33.1% lower for brisket, and 31.5% lower for meat for bulgogi and stew.

The discount rate compared to the regular price at which the company usually sells is up to 63.0%, depending on the cut and grade. This differs in criteria from the discount rate compared to the consumer price in mid-October, and it is not a discount rate that is applied uniformly to all companies or items.

Before making a purchase, it is necessary to check the promotional period for each retailer. GS Retail, Home & Shopping, Gmarket/Auction, NS Shopping, Coupang, and 11st are participating from October 28 to November 8. E-Mart, Homeplus, and Homeplus Express are running the event from October 29 to November 1, while Lotte Mart and Lotte Super are holding the event from October 29 to November 4.

SSG.COM[Company Name] participates from October 29 to November 8, while Nonghyup Hanaro Mart and Nonghyup Mall participate from October 31 to November 1. Butcher shops also participate on a company-by-company basis, and Yeongju Seonbichon Hanwoo holds a discount event from November 1 to 8.

The cuts, grades, and stock available vary by vendor and store. In particular, discounted items at Nonghyup Hanaro Mart differ by location, so prior verification is required. Detailed information can be found on the websites of the Korean Beef Self-Help Fund, the National Hanwoo Association, and the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, as well as on the ‘Yeogigogi’ app, a livestock retail price comparison service provided by the Korea Animal Products Quality Evaluation Institute.

Lee Jae-sik, Director General of Livestock Policy at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, expressed his hope that consumers would be able to enjoy Hanwoo at affordable prices through this event and stated that the ministry would continue to devise measures to stabilize consumer prices for livestock products.
